Summer is coming and we can't wait to wear the summer shoes par excellence: espadrilles! Super comfortable and lightweight, they have conquered the heart and wardrobe of everyone for their beautiful simplicity. Let's find out more in the next paragraph!

With summer approaching, it's almost time for espadrilles, and what better way to celebrate them than to tell their story?

Lovely, simple and ancient: the espadrilles we know today are more than 2000 years old. The first discovery of this shoe dates back to 2000 BC in the Cave of Bats in Zuheros, Spain, and over the years they have been the shoes worn by farmers and fishermen.

Known for their simplicity – the low sole is produced in jute rope and the upper in fabric – and their comfort, Luis Castañer and Tomas Serra recognized their potential and founded their own company in 1927 in Girona, Catalonia, with the aim of bringing espadrilles into both men's and women's wardrobes. The choice will prove successful and will even reach the feet of icons such as Brigitte Bardot, Grace Kelly and Jackie Kennedy, and not only: in 1972, Luis will collaborate with Yves Saint Laurent to create the first model of espadrilles with wedges, thus making their debut on catwalks.

Originally in black and white with low soles, today we can choose from a myriad of colors and patterns, between low or high soled even with laces or straps. I mean, we're spoiled for choice!

But how to match them? Thanks to their versatility, we can wear them under shorts, skinny trousers or long pants, perhaps with a beautiful classic or Bowling model shirt, with jeans of all shapes and colors, long and short dresses, for an unforgettable summer look!
